Hippocrates is often referred to as the father of Western medicine.
For those of you who don’t know of him, he lived from 460 BC to 370 BC in ancient Greece. He was the founder of the Hippocratic School of Medicine and is responsible for coining the Hippocratic Oath, which is still recited by all graduating physicians almost 2500 years later.
One of his most famous recorded quotes is:
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
I am a huge proponent of this philosophy, as is the rest of the team here at FOHN.
I personally dove deep into the “living food” world, even going to the extreme of becoming a raw vegan for 3 years, so I could rebuild my body with real nutrients.
I was raised on Hungry-Man frozen dinners and Burger King® for the first half of my life, so becoming a raw vegan was not something that came naturally to me.
It was a conscious choice. One of the most powerful I ever made.
When I chose to eat real whole foods and chose to stop eating processed fast foods my body got stronger, my mind became sharper, my stamina increased significantly, and best of all, my attitude improved dramatically! I found it difficult to be anything but totally excited about life — even when times were tough!
I don’t express a desire for you to go down the same path I did to find health, but I do believe immensely in your power to choose your path to health.
So when I see blatant manipulations of our choices I get pissed off and feel obligated to share my observations for any who would like to explore these discoveries with me.
So what pissed me off today, you ask?
Well…with election times almost here, there are a few important propositions up for vote, and I consider one of the most important Proposition 37 in California.
It covers the labeling of GMO derived foods on the consumer market.
I don’t know about you, but I want to have a choice whether or not to consume this “food” big agribusiness genetically engineers (supposedly for the greater good of humanity)…
Apparently there are a few folks who don’t want you or me to be able to make that decision…
The “big dog” in the this pack of wolves is Monsanto corp., of course.
They know their product is unpopular and potentially dangerous, so they and their partners do not want us to know what we’re eating.
The most recent example of the potential proof of GMO dangers comes from France. It shows that over a 2 year period, up to 75% of the animals fed GMO-grown food contracted cancerous tumors.
The “silver bullet,” for me, in the study is the revelation that all the tumors started to grow after 90 days of consumption of GMO food, but in all previous studies, which placed GMO’s in the “safe” category were less then 90-day tests!!!

I liken this to similar situations in our recent past, like the aggressive spraying of DDT.
We were told it was safe and it was marketed aggressively to our society. Remember when Doctors still pushed cigarettes as a healthy stress reliever? These industries were fueled by corporate profits and consumers obediently trusted and consumed these and many other products, approved from mainstream sources we trusted.
What really gets me though, is how Monsanto claims to upholding the Hippocratic Oath and working towards the betterment of society, and even the world.
But… they are honestly the biggest embodiment of Hypocrisy I have seen in recent history.
Monsanto and other corporate and private donors have put up tens of millions of dollars to fight “Prop 37″ in California
Why? So you, the consumer, will not be able to choose if you want to eat GMO food, or not.
Imagine if you didn’t have a choice to consume MSG, high fructose corn syrup, gluten, or partially hydrogenated oils…
We would all be MUCH worse off if we didn’t have those choices, and that is exactly why consumers like you and I have fought to have those ingredients labeled.

Additional evidence that Monsanto knows there’s a problem with their GMO products — and the most compelling demonstration of their hypocrisy — comes from their corporate campus in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK.
In their own cafeteria, they have allowed their employees to BAN all GMO food on the menu!
The reason, they say, “Yes, this is the case, and it is because we believe in choice!”
They believe in choice for their employees and but not for their public consumers!?
