Though more than 230 scientists, including the developer of the first GM crop, have recently signed a statement challenging the genetically modified organisms saftey, the GMO labeling bill has recently failed.
Mike Adams reported for Natural News yesterday that, the “GMO labeling initiative 522 seems to have failed, proving once again that corporate money can buy food secrecy.”
Following Monsanto’s $8.1 million contribution to help narrowly defeat California’s Proposition 37, the biotech and pesticide giant has set its sights on Washington’s ballot initiative 522. After several sizeable donations to the 522 opposition group, last week, Monsanto dropped over $4.5 million, making it the biggest single contribution on either side thus far.
Other major corporations including Dow, Bayer and Dupont have also made large contributions to the No on I-522 campaign. The Grocery Manufacturers Association, which represents noted anti-labeling companies such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Kraft and General Mills, has donated over $2.2 million so far.”
As of November 6th, 2013, Monsanto’s campaign raised for the anti-GMO labeling campaign a whooping $22 Million.
“Monsanto’s massive campaign to defeat your very right to know what’s in your food has been backed by over $22 million in corporate funding from sources like DuPont and Bayer, but the reality is that these corrupt corporate monopolies are fighting just to survive within the world’s food supply.
Perhaps most amazing to me is the fact that just $550 of the $22 million donated to fighting the GMO labeling initiative actually came from Washington citizens. To put that into perspective, that’s around .0025% of the total finances. The rest, actually came from the Grocery Manufacturers Association, Monsanto, DuPont Pioneer, Dow AgroSciences and Bayer CropScience — the same corporations who are actively dominating the food supply with all forms of genetically modified varieties.”
What this means is that the people are starting to wake up to Monsanto’s deception and take action against it.
In my opinion, sooner rather than later, we will understand that we are powerful, as long as we stand together, and the elite’s manipulation and control works only for as long as we are idle and uninformed.
