Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) funded research to the tune of $453,000 aimed at studying hormone therapy in primates — research that has raised eyebrows for its potential applications to human transgender medical interventions.
The study, conducted at the University of Montreal, involved giving testosterone blockers and estrogen to male monkeys to observe behavioral and physiological changes. The research was funded through NIAID grants during the period when Fauci was the agency’s director.
“Why is the agency supposedly focused on infectious diseases funding hormone experiments on primates?” asked critics who questioned the relevance to NIAID’s stated mission.
The funding comes amid growing concerns about the explosion of gender clinics treating children with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones — interventions that were virtually unheard of just a decade ago. The primate research suggests that NIAID had scientific interest in the effects of cross-sex hormones that predates the current cultural explosion of transgender ideology.
The intersection of government-funded research, pharmaceutical interests, and social engineering deserves far more scrutiny than it has received.
