Pumapunku(also known as Puma Punku) is a large temple complex located in Tiwanaku, Bolivia. In Aymara, the name Puma Punku means, “The Door of the Cougar”.
It is situated near the south eastern shore of Lake Titicaca, and sits on a plateau in the Andes at roughly 12,600 feet elevation. Pumapunku is dated to be at least 17,000 years old. The stones at Puma Punku are made up of granite and diorite, and the only stone that is harder that these two, is diamond.
If the people who built this place cut these stones using stone cutting techniques, then they must have had used diamond-tip tools.
Not only were these stones really hard to cut, but they are also extremely heavy. One of these stones weighs about 800 tons!
The constructors of Puma Punku were very sophisticated, having knowledge of astronomy, geomancy, and mathematics. There is one more significant thing to mention regarding the ruins of Puma Punku. These stones had been cut perfectly, which requires techniques that can only be achieved by high tech machines. The cuts are perfectly straight and the angles are perfect. The cored holes are also perfect, and all of them have equal depth.
